A Few Of The Most Unusual Facts About College Football History

If you love to watch college football games then you have probably seen a couple of fascinating things while watching. But have you seen something as strange as these bizarre facts which we have gathered together from across the land?

1. Schedules in college football are important to those that like to study the demographics of the game. When the Cornhusker's game is on the stadium becomes the 3rd biggest gathering of people within the whole state.

2. What might confuse you is the colors the Tennessee Volunteers currently wear. Why did the team choose orange as the color for their outfits? The colors they wear were based upon the daisies which covered the campus grounds when the colors were chosen.

3. If you think that college football is pretty dangerous these days then just as well you werent a spectator around a century or so ago. Back in 1905 18 players were killed and around 150 were seriously injured while the game was in full swing. The following year the President almost went ahead and banned college games as a result.

4. The University of Georgia mascot has been a bulldog named Uga for a long time now, with different dogs taking their turn to play this essential role. However, before this their very first mascot back at the end of the 19th century was a perhaps less lovable goat. On the topic of mascots, probably the most bizarre one around could be a battle between some of the following. Gaylord the Camel, Big Red, Nittany Lion, The Tree, Oski and finally Lil Red. If these cheery macsots can't drive the players into a win then what will?

5. Who won the first national championship? It was picked up by Princeton but the list of college football results was pretty short that year as they only had to compete in two games. I bet you there wasn't a single complaint from the players about a long hard season!

6. Oregon State and Oregon University play a civil war game in between each other and also the fascinating prize is: The Platypus Trophy It was chosen simply because it includes the bill from the Oregon Duck mascot and also the tail from the Oregon State Beaver. The trophy was so wanted and so distinctive it was really stolen a couple of years back but was later recovered and played for again.
